This "Oma's" Christmas lights vandalized!

Two weeks ago I put the flood lights outside to shine on our two perfect looking pine trees. Also at the corner of the house is this cute smaller pine tree for which I bought some lights as well. The lights around the windows still work from last year.

Anyways, all in all, it looked pretty and very Christmas-y.
Yesterday afternoon I noticed that the lights on the smaller tree had sort of come off. I thought the wind must have done that or may be some kids? Would not surprise me since a few years ago they broke about two feet from the top of this tree. It took me a while to get it in shape again.

Last night as we drove by I noticed the flood light were not working. When I looked closely both lights smashed to pieces, even the stands had been broken.

How in the world could they do that to this nice "old" Oma?

Of course Ted said: "Well sweetheart it was to be expected you were asking for that!" I reminded him, these lights worked all of last winter until they got buried under the snow!

I thought, kids will be kids. When I go for my walks I often notice things that were I a teenager and very bored I could be very mischievous. For instance, I saw some people had redone their front lawn, instead of grass, they had created a whole design made with different shades of pebbles.
I thought, oh would I like to mix these up (when it is dark of course). Then hide somewhere and see their reaction!

You did not know that about me, did you?

The question is, should I replace those lights?

Maybe the neighbors did it! Were they shining in anyone's windows?

I'd wait a couple weeks, and then replace them. Then put a sign on the door "SMILE, you're on CAMERA!"

Nope the light were facing the trees. Besides, the neighbours are too nice to do something like that!

Mabe it were some playing kids , who knows... maybe they are too shy to bring them back?

I would considder this : replace them anyhow, (at least do it for yourself!) maybe the "thiefs" are getting tired from steeling, maybe 1 time is enough?? And they have now enough lights, don't they, right?

And ehhhh: maybe you can add a note with/aside of the lights, with the following message: Hint... "you can buy this christmas lights in our house " ring my doorbell... and ask for the price , we would be happy to inform you about the price and where to buy them.. :)

Or.... Go to this/that shop (name of shop)to buy this lights for christmas greetings...

I can imagine that its boring that who-ever people cannot keep their hands inside their own pockets, but don't stop with your enthousiasme, its YOUR idea and don't let anyone spoil your mood.

I hope you are a little helped by my answer? With Love from JoAnn

I'd say replace them. Far more people will enjoy your display, including you, than a few vandals.
