We are having some nice weather here in Winnipeg. The trees are beginning to show some life in them and winter coats have been put away. What a nice time of the year this is for us "Winterpeggers".

For the rest I have not much to tell and we did not take any pictures lately.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA

Where have I been?

Well we have had company over the weekend, my sister-in-law Willy and her daughter (and my niece Nelly) came by train all the way from Toronto. A very happy reunion after not having seen them since last November.

Picture below you can see Lynne getting the table ready for a fantastic supper for our guests and us. Do you notice the fresh flowers on the table? How nice of Lynne and Ron to do that for us. Thank you very much both of you!

Ron is feeding Alyssa, I have never seen a baby like that!

Below the proud Opa with Hudson and Evan!

We did have a wonderful weekend and it was over much too soon as they left yesterday afternoon. Today I went to work and tomorrow as well, busy, busy.

A quote from my nephew Albert in Holland:

About some Christians,

"Their behavior and speech simply do NOT line up with what they (say they) believe!"

James 3
12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.

His way?

We are always looking for the better item, whether buying fruit in a market or choosing a place to live. We finally make a choice based on what we believe is better. I can’t imagine anyone saying, “I’m convinced this is worse, so I’ll take it.”

The book of Proverbs is to give the reader knowledge and wisdom based on the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:2,7), it’s not surprising to find statements saying, “This is better than that.”

In Proverbs 16, we read that it is better to get wisdom than gold or silver (v.16); better to be humble among the poor than to be proud among the wealthy (v.19); better to control our temper than to rule a city (v.32). Some people have the ability to be both wise and wealthy. But when faced with a choice between the two, Proverbs says wisdom is the better alternative.

When God’s Word shapes our thinking and guides our choices, we’ll discover that His way is always better.

Proverbs 1

Wise Sayings of Solomon
A Manual for Living:

1-6 These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king.Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it's going;
A manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair;
To teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality.
There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn.

7 Start with God, the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.

8 Pay close attention, friend, to what your father tells you; never forget what you learned at your mother's knee.
9 Wear their counsel like flowers in your hair, like rings on your fingers.

Me!

This is me just before I came to Canada.
Actually the sculpture was made a few months prior. I posed for that 25 hours. I still have it in our living room and is one of my dear possessions. As I saw it being evolved from a blob of clay. The picture I had taken for Ted shortly after our engagement when he was in Canada and I was waiting for my immigration to be finalized. Barely 20 years old

Our grand children in Canada

At least my sister has her fingers! I might take a nap till they're done!
We will just watch TV and look pretty!

For to-day!

Psalm 111:10

Have a Blessed Easter all of you!
This year we are doing something different, the kids are coming over for Saturday brunch. I have bought some typical Dutch treats such as "Hagelslag" and "Beschuit", don't know what that is? Well, sorry you got to be Dutch for that, hahaha! Hint: Go Google it!
For the rest it will be a relaxed couple of days. Got to get the grandchildren a little treat and hide those "eggs" in the house.
Lets us not forget what we are celebrating!
Love Trudy

Do not presume to know what's best.
When you begin to pray;
But say to God."Your will be done,"
Then trust His perfect way.

The elderly 2

In my previous blog I mentioned me going to Personal Care Homes, well I found this picture.
It was a real treat for them if they could sing a "duet" with me. Look at him all dressed up!

Because a harp is very portable I would stroll among them and sing.

On one such occasion a sweet male resident asked if he could feel my shoulders, hmmm, sure, (he certainly got me of guard). He put his hand on my shoulder and said: "You are such an angel I was wondering if you were sprouting wings!"

One time upon leaving I put my instrument in the case without closing it. Yes you got that right, my harp fell out in a 100 plus pieces. The cries came from the audience: "Are you not able to come anymore?" I assured them that my husband was soooooo smart he could probably put it together in no time and he did. Besides looking after the children, he also tuned my harp whenever I went out. I always appreciated his support.

As I mentioned before, I'd talk about the Bible, and I would also asked questions. Now what amazed me is that they were not always able to answer questions. But........every single one would know the name of the Son of God.......Jesus, they would say in unison.

They were people from different backgrounds, from college teachers, bankers, pastors etc. I always felt that I should have respect for them, but sometimes it could get very comical.

I was told that one lady resident was a kleptomaniac. They had to keep a close watch on her. I guess one time they didn't. She went into every room and collected all the dentures and put them in her bag. You can just imagine the frustration to get everybody fitted! Grandma Jones would probably say: "These are not mine, these are my husbands!" That poor denturist, hahaha!

I mean for those of you that have partials or dentures, after two days or so, nothing fits right!
