The Secret!

I have been following the emerging of this new “The Secret” with great interest.
This secret, so they say has been hidden and known only to a chosen few.

It is what they call "The law of attraction", what you are consumed with in your mind, will become the way you live. I find it very interesting but I do have a few reservations.

Unbeknown to them ? is that Vincent Peale discovered that secret and wrote the book “Power of positive thinking” around 1970. I bought that book as a birthday gift for Ted and we both devoured it. Many more have shared their secret in wonderful books.

After reading it I began to read the Bible in a different light. The Bible means what it says and says what it means”. (I love to put my own name in verses I read.)

1 John 5:13-15
13 These things have I written unto you (Trudy) who believes on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.

(We figured why believe one part and not the other?)

14 And this is the confidence that I (Trudy) have in Him, that, if I ask any thing according to His will, He hears me.
15 And if I know that He hears me, whatsoever I ask, I know that I have the petitions that I desired of him.

1 John 3:20-22
20 Even if I (Trudy) feel guilty or not worthy, God is greater than my feelings, for He knows everything.
21 So my dear friends, if we don’t have to feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence.
22 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.

So… go ahead and...........
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7

And when the going gets rough?
Cast all your cares upon him; after all, He cares for you right? 1 Peter 5:7

But remember, seek first the kingdom of God, make Him proud; and all these things shall be added unto you Matthew 6:33

Well in short, it changed my life. Simple, when I pray, I believe with great anticipation.

What is happening

I started a cold/flu about a week ago and have not been able to get rid of it. Yesterday I did go to work because I had promised Debbie I'd take her for lunch. It was a hectic and frantic day. You don't have to feel sorry for me because I am well able to handle situations such as these.

But.... at on point the printer would not work and this quotation Debbie had typed had to go out before we would leave for the day. I was trying to get the printer to work and it wouldn't, so I said sh....t this stupid printer it always gets stuck!

Debbie began to laugh of course as she is not used to me saying things like that, especially after my previous post! We had called my son Ron, he came to the rescue as he is able to dial in to fix our dilemma. He heard us while we were in this frantic state. After it was all fixed he invited Ted and me for supper, and.... he said : "We will discuss what you just said over dinner!"

Today I am staying home. I am not up to sitting sniffling and coughing there in the office. Since it is Debbie's day to stay home, the office calls will be forwarded to my cell phone and I have lots to do on the books to keep me busy. So I will not have time for small talk. I am able to dial in on the computer at work. Isn't today's technology fantastic?

So , I got to get to work.

Peter 1:13-21 (New Living Translation)

A Call to Holy Living

13 So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.
15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

Attention all Seniors

Mirror, Mirror!

Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror, and says, "Hmm, this person looks familiar." The second blonde says, "Here, let me see!" So the first blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the mirror and says, "You dummy, it's me!"

Valentine

Since my husband tells me every day that he loves me, this day for me is like any other.
My heart goes out though to those who have lost their spouses and definitely NOT to those who complain (or might) that their husband did not do anything.

Make your Valentine's day last everyday in 2007, because one day you might regret you didn't!

Hey schat, I love you

and you are the best thing that ever happened to me!

Fish anyone?

My boss has a super large pond in her backyard, almost the envy of anyone who sees it in the summer. Besides that she has lots of flowers and a yard that looks very well taken care off. Because we are in the well drilling business, it has a fountain a large pump system etc.

Of course in the winter the fish come inside. So therefore her husband made a large basin in the basement with pump and all where the fish have the time of their lives.
Since my bosses take off to the South for two months, Debbie and I have to feed them. Yes that is part of my job!!! So Wednesday morning I threw them some food and noticed one floating side ways. Oh gross I thought I have to get this 12" thing out of there. Luckily there was a net so I tried to put that dead fish in a plastic bag. Once in, it slithered out again. By now I was close to throwing up. I tried again to get it in the bag. Then I took it to the porch and placed it on a chair there. I did not know what to do. I don't know, I thought they might want to find out why it died.

I went back to work and forgot about the fish. This morning Debbie was at the office and she had a courier guy come in for a delivery. He asked Debbie (dead serious): "Did you go ice fishing?" Debbie replied: "Noooowww I did not go ice fishing!" He kind of looked at that (by now) frozen fish and she thought for sure he was going to ask her can I have it? If he had she would have given it to him too and...she would have said enjoy!!!

When she told me that I could just see the guy in my mind, and we had such a good laugh. Are we bad or what!!!!!!!
A question: Why is it that dead animals freak us out?

40-C
All I can say is: "BRRRRRRRRRR!"
But than again how nice and comfy is it at home. I have time to continue translating my diary. Just an up date, I started my diary when I was 16 and I wrote extensively every day, so much to tell, so many boyfriends and so many troubles!!!!!
When I turned 20 Ted came into my life, (all the way from Canada!) Well people I am three months away from that as far as translating is concerned. So I got to get back to it as this becomes the hi-light of the book once it is published and after Yvonne designs a cover, hahaha.
So I will be busy this afternoon, see ye!!

Our little Aila

A few post back I showed our family picture with Aila missing. Anyways, since she was here yesterday I asked her to pose so that Yvonne can foto shop her into it. She is such a riot this kid. I told her everytime. "Look at Oma and say cheese!" "Like this?" She'd say. Then of course we were both lauging. Every Oma should have a grandchild like her!

(Click on the picture to see her eyes!)

But finally she gave me a well deserved pose
isn't she adorable?

"It seems", my niece JoAnn said to me the other day: "That when I complain and mention negative things on my blog, people leave more comments!" "Yep, I have experienced that as well", I replied. I guess it is the kindness people want to show we decided.

Or is it because a person who is always happy seems to have it all together?

Or," are we giving our tears to those who love us and smiles to those who love us less?"

No matter what, positive and happy people are more fun to be around with don't you think?

The following I read this morning, What a great way to enter in the first day of my 67th year!!

Laughter: "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken" (Prov. 15:13). True happiness begins deep inside and emerges on our faces.

The Lord: "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility" (Prov. 15:33). When God is central in our hearts, He can teach us His way through every experience of life.

The Little Things: "Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf with hatred" (Prov.15:17). Maintaining loving relationships and enjoying the basic things of life are more important than wealth and success.

Not all of us will live a long time, but we can all live well each day—with laughter, the Lord, and the little things in life.
