Doggerel

I read this the other day

A little bit of doggerel goes as follows: "A cheerful old bear at the zoo could always find something to do. When it bored him, you know, to walk to and fro, he reversed it and walked fro and to!"The writer apparently thought people could learn a lesson from the bear, for these creatures seem to be quite happy as long as they have enough food to eat and a few of their own kind around them.

Now a doggerel is NOT a female dog, hahaha!
In the dictionary I found this........
Doggerel describes verse considered of little literary value. The word is derogatory, from Middle English.

Now I thought about this doggerel of the bear. We certainly are not like bears.
Yet complacency is one human trait. We don't like too many changes (especially when you get older!) That is not bad if it happens to be a positive complacency.
If you happen to be a complaining kind of a person a change is in order. That is a habit that can be reversed.

Luke 15:3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders etc".

What humans tend to do is put aside 99 blessings (or friends) and they concentrate on the one mishap or one nasty person and carry it on their shoulder!! I know I did the last few weeks and where did it get me?

A relative of mine (not a "church" person) said to me: "Did not Jesus have many friends and also many enemies, that never stopped him?" Bingo.......

A friend ( who seriously claims NOT to believe in God) took me out for lunch. She also has been very supportive of me because of the fact that things were getting to me. But she asked me how come so many Christians complain so much all the time? Does it not say in the Bible: "God helps those who help them self?"Should they not smarten up? Another doggerel being used a lot. No that is not in the Bible. On the contrary we need God before we even attempt to do it our self. But there should come a maturity in the believer because of knowledge of the Bible and experience, which ought to helps us to carry on regardless.

In the secular world they complain as well. You may find a few very confident and positive people here and there, but they do have to rely on themselves. We, on the other hand have something far greater than just "ourselves", we have Jesus and His Spirit who never leave us.

Having said all this, I want to thank you for praying and for the nice comments on this blog a few days ago and for calling me. We do need each other! I have so appreciated that. Most of all I thank my husband Ted for loving me.

Monday we will get the results from his bloodtest and CT Scan and we will keep you posted.

Sweet Truus, You'll better carry the blessings on your shoulder, instead of that 1 lost sheep... But....I am good in that behavior also.. 'said I'.. haha . But your 'message' is cristal clear. Take care of yourself, we love you all too much!
