While driving in the car with Anneka and Aila the other day, I was listening to a CD that Ted put together with our favorite music, hymns and also some classical pieces. I asked the girls if it was okay for Oma to have it on. They had no problems with that. But as an old Dutch favorite hymn of Ted came on, Anneka asked me: "Why are they singing soooooo slow Oma?"
Hmmmmm!

Sunday lunch
Summer
It seems nobody is blogging.
So here I am, not much to tell.
Today the children are coming over for lunch and I am just about ready for them and for the grandchildren. We don't have those get-to-gethers that often as Yvonne and Jason are always busy with their meetings. But today they start later with the service.
We are having this fantastic weather. I know some people who complain about the heat, not me I love it big time. I was out there all day yesterday had a very restfull day. The only thing I did was make the cinnamon buns for lunch today. For the rest just laying around and watering the flowers. Yep that's living for me, hahaha!
They should be here any minute so I'd better go.
I might post some pictures, if we remember to take some.
The kids play so well together. Aila is in the three year old stage. "That is mine", everything is mine!! Reminds me of my kids. When I borrow something to them and it has been in their home a few months, what do I hear? "That is mine, you gave that to me!" " Really? Oh I didn't know!"
Got to love them!!

Finally!
A few days ago we noticed a message on our phone.
We checked the machine, since Ted is on there with his usual message:
"We will call you right back." Etc. The message was directed to him as follows:
"Opa this is Anneka, we have some very, very exiting news for you , but we will call you back later, no wait, Aila will tell you!"
Aila: "Hi Opa I peedon a potty, NOOWWWW I's get da Heffawump movieeeee!!!"
Anneka: "Isn't that great? Bye Opa!"
Of course we called them back, but by then they were in bed, we told Yvonne that the girls had left an important message!
If you have read my daughter Yvonne's blog, than you know about the struggle to get Aila who turned three in July to go on that toilet. I guess they make those diapers so well the kids don't realize that they are wet, hahaha!
This was just an moment in Oma's life.

Busy day!
This morning when we woke up it was raining, how the lawn and flowers needed that!
Since I could not be outside, I took the opportunity to do some cleaning. I vacuumed the basement and then.....the "cleaning and throwing away" mood came over me. I called the Canadian Diabetic Society and they will pick up what ever stuff I don't need anymore. I do not really believe in garage sales that is why. I prefer to give things away. Hey you can buy it in Value Village, hahaha!
Then the stuff that you keep around for"just in case". I recently learned something from my son-in-law Jason. When you have not use "that thing" give it away or throw it out. Since we have so much we have not used for quite a while, out it went. If you hurry before the garbage truck comes....Never mind it is all junk.
Around noon the sun came out and with my "cleaning and throwing away" mood, I ventured outside and cleaned out the shed.
My son Ron told me I ought to be cutting down some branches of the trees. Now THAT I find hard to do, because I love my trees, I like to leave them in their natural shape. But I went ahead anyways and started pruning away. Except for some branches I like to keep for (cuttings) for new trees, those are also ready to be picked up on garbage day.
So today I did a lot of work until Ted told me at 6:30 to come in and call it the day.
Well I thought you might wanted to know!

This and that
Not much to report, that does not mean my life is boring. Actually I just love this weather so much. I spend most of my time ourdoors.
I had to go to have an EKG done and the nurse on duty said: "This hot weather is a scorcher!" I was surprised to hear her say that with the kind of winters we have. So I told her how much I enjoy it and that I like to be outdoors all day. She wanted to know what I do outdoors. "Well", I told her, "I pull out some weeds, I water the flowers, or lie on my lounger underneath the tree to read or snooze, have a drink, hubby and I have tea etc. I am never bored." "That sounds so nice", she replied. What the heck I thought, she can do that too!!!
Then I asked my neighbour across the street if I could have the apples that had fallen of the trees to make applesauce. He said: "You can have all the apples you want, be my guest." So guess what I have been doing. The first time I went picking apples I had Aila with me. She had no idea that apples had to be picked and she had a ball. Than she helped me wash the apples in the sink. The kids just love the applesauce and so do we. I try to stock up in the freezer.
Well, it is tea time!
