That Yvonne was able to make this trip with me, that Jason allowed her to go and take full responsibilities for the girls was a gift. For Ted it was also a big sacrifice as he did not like to be alone. So thank you Jason and thank you "Schat". Actually it was the first thing I said to Ted when I saw him back: "Thank you for allowing me to make this trip. It was a dream (while I was recovering from cancer) come true."
I did all the things I wanted to do and see and Yvonne was so caring and patient. I'd say, oh and here in this house lived my sister Cobie's boyfriend of which my parents did not approve. And here......oh yes, Yvonne'd say. Then I'd go on to something else I remembered. I even rang the doorbell of the house in which I was born and she'd stand a bit in the distance as she probably thought Mom is going too far, who is going to let her in? Unfortunately for me there was nobody home.

The reception in Holland was fantastic and well you can tell by my face! Even in the stores with my mixed Dutch - English, (I 'd thought I was speaking flawlessly) but I could not fool those smart Dutchies. So we were just treated so well by them were ever we went.

The windows in the front are the same but the ones at the side of the house and the door as well have been changed.

This the backlane at the end is our house on the left. Same stones isn't that something. I have walked there many times as a child. I found that just incredible. Where that lady is standing in the backyard of that house I told Yvonne I had my finger chopped off and had to go on the back of my Mother's bike to the doctor. Screaming like any kid would scream with blood streaming down.
I thought for sure I had become history!

It's so wonderful that you had this opportunity to re-visit your childhood home. I totally understand your happiness at being able to share these times with your daughter.
The pictures are great! Now I know where Anneka learned that camera smile Yvonne!
Those pictures are just great!! I can tell by the look on your face that you had the time of your life. I'm sooo happy for you, that you got to go.
