Been thinking

I have been thinking, about GOD, yes GOD, what He actually means to me.

When I look around me and I observe other Christians, I have to wonder what kind of influence we are. Are we really a testimony for the non-Christians?
Even in our blogging world I have to question what influence we are.

If I were not a child of God and I would be searching, what would I be looking for?
What would you be looking for?
Be honest, look around you and observe people, is there a difference between the two?

*Are they, the believers trusting in God?
*Are they being thankful? Honest? Saying negative things?
*Are they worrying about the future?
*They'r own health and their children's?
*Oh yes, what about money, holding on to it tight, they might need it some day!

I work for people who admit they do not believe in our God, nor any god for that matter. But actually, many a believer could use their attitude in many instances.

You know what they say? The churches are like a puppet show. One church has a better one than the next as if they are in competition. Competition about what!
As if they each have a different Bible they comment, because one believes this, the next one believes that!
In the business world Christians are shafting them!
They also see children of believers not being able to get along in their marriages. While the parents are not able to function because they are so worried instead of bringing it to their God. Yes that is what they are saying people.

You know what would really impress them?

*They would like you to bring it to a God who created the universe. Right?
*Who made something out of nothing, right?
*Who came to earth in the form of a man and dwelt among us, right?
*A God who tells us, " I will never leave you nor forsake you!"
*A God, who hears our prayers, knows our thoughts! Right?

This is what we have been telling them!

Trudy, my extended family (including my mom) are not Christians. They would probably say they believe God exists, but leave it at that. My mom, especially, has her own ideas of what I (we) believe. They're not correct, but it's what she thinks we believe.

She thinks Christians are supposed to be perfect. And since she's never met one who is she feels completely free to reject Christianity. She doesn't know that we serve a merciful God. She doesn't know that we will not have complete dominion over our own sin on this side of heaven. She doesn't know that walking with God is a journey and that there's value and growth in the process.

All she sees is where we've failed. So she can judge by her own standards and feel free to reject the God who loves her IN SPITE OF her sin.

And I don't think she's alone.

I think we need to be proclaiming what the "good news" REALLY is, instead of trying harder to be the "perfect" people they think we claim to be. If people are going to judge us, shouldn't they at least be doing it with the correct information?

I agree. Why can't we all just grow up. I just wonder why we refuse to.

What is so hard about being thankful to God for his blessings, thanking Him in our prayers, and living like we believe it?

Cindy, i am commenting as a person who has grown up in the church, so i am aware of what your beliefs are. I really wonder if your mom thinks that Christians need to be perfect, or if she has just experienced the actions of Christians and found them to be opposite of what they preach with words. This has been my experience!

I have chosen not to be involved with a church because the examples of most Christians i have come into contact with are people who i would rather not be like. As a Christian i think you would have to try to be an example of what Christ would be, if he was here on earth. I find that alot of Christians get caught up in the idea of being a Christian, and forget that they are being asked by God to be an example. I find that alot of people who call themselves Christians are some of the fakest and least genuine people I have met.

Also, i think that using the word "judging" is very dangerous thing. Are you sure she is judging or is she just expressing her opinion? Because that is all we are doing, so would that be judging???

Just my opinion.
