Result of Ted's tests

I mentioned that we had an appointment with the Neurologist at the Health Science Centre Friday morning. The outcome of that stroke, or rather the previous information we were given at the Grace Hospital was actually very premature. At that time we were told it was a Hemorrhagic stroke. But the MRI actually showed a more accurate picture than the two CT Scans. It was an ischemic stroke. There were a few arteries affected...

What is ischemic stroke?

Ischemic stroke is the most common type. It accounts for about 87 percent of all strokes. It occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms and blocks blood flow in an artery bringing blood to part of the brain. Blood clots usually form in arteries damaged by fatty buildups, called atherosclerosis.

The Ultra sound taken from his neck showed no blockage, that is good news, else an operation would have to be performed. Ted's condition has improved somewhat. Whether he will be completely restored is hard to tell, it will take time. There is nothing the Neurologist can do about it, nor can he tell what the future holds. Of course nobody knows that. That is why it is important to believe and trust God and be ready to meet HIM when the times comes.

For the rest we have to make sure his sugar and blood pressure stay at an healthy level. Naturally, we have been working on that. We don't have to come back. As we were having a coffee in the cafeteria of the Hospital, which was rather "gezellig", I said to Ted: "Just as I was beginning to get used to this place we don't have to come back, isn't that a bummer!"

Besides the occasional frustration because of his limitations, Ted is doing well. Me, well I just go with the flow, which works well (most of the time).
