Friends?

There is nothing that bothers me more than people who complain, especially something so insignificance as the weather. You hear about famous people who suffer for weeks, months with cancer and finally pass away. Or a friend looses a loved one. Now that is bad and than finding out that they don't like to complain about their situation.

Well, I am not too happy with myself, actually for the last week or so I have silently complained . Simply because Ted and I are going through a rough time and I have a hard time dealing with it. His Parkinson has been getting a lot worse and I don't really know what to do. I keep on hoping it will go away, may be it's a flu or something. I left a message with the Movement Disorder Clinic this morning. His Neurologist might know what to do.

Believe me when I tell you this is a very difficult situation to cope with. Especially when I have a suggestion and it is not appreciated by the patient!

Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor and my husband was not able to come along with me. That was hard because we do these things together all the time. Was I desperate? Yes, it made me very depressed. Not only was I on my own in that area. There is more. The drain spout was not working outside and in the pouring rain I tried to fix it. Our Reverse Osmosis system needs  to have the filters replaced, but first I have to pick them up. The car needs an oil change, the lawnmower blades need to be sharpened. I realize that Ron is more than willing to look after that, but it only makes me want to have my healthy husband back.

I really needed a friend, where are they? Just to get a call from somebody out of the blue.

Then something happened. As I was getting ready to go to the doctor the phone rang and it was Lynne. She was in the neighborhood with our granddaughter, actually she was sitting right on our driveway. I told her that I was getting ready to go and she than offered to take me. Later on in the car I asked if Paul had called her, (because he'd talked with Ted earlier in the morning). Lynne said: “Nobody called me, I just felt like coming over!” I shared with her my predicament and how timely her call was.

When we came back we had tea, little Alyssa brightened up our day. Their visit was just what the doctor (the Lord) ordered.

I am just sharing my down period. I am usually able to cope with any adversity that comes my way, but this is an altogether different ball game. Just realizing that this is not going to get better. In situations like these how we need friends.

Ted-ism

Ted has been busy fixing the computer for the last hour or so.
I watched him a bit, gave him a kiss and said: "Sweetheart you are so smart!"

His answer was: "I know, you're NOT getting an argument out of me!

Sunny

Today is is going to be 22 c, this is the third nice day we have this week. The grass is finally  turning green.
I am going for a nice walk, got to love this life. My life is one perennial vacation  (Existing or remaining in the same state for an indefinitely long time.that is what the thesaurus tells me, amen to that!!)

Ted could not be happier to have me home, right now we are in to our second cup of coffee and it is only 10 am.
Tomorrow I am going to see Dr. Rao the Ophthalmologist, it has been two weeks since the operation and my eye is still improving. I wonder when my other eye will be done. It is amazing that a man can have such an amazing skill. His personality is also very undemanding and down to earth. I mean, he himself actually drove me back to the ward. All the staff just love him they told me. So I highly recommend him.

New neighbours

You know what really amazes me?

Well, when long time neighbours sell their home, you know the one they've lived in like us, for many years? With a nice yard in which over the years they planted trees, scrubs etc.? Everything looks great, a joy to watch from where I am sitting.

Then the new owners move in and the first thing they do is cut down the established trees. Like across the street, the beautiful one with the gorgeous blossoms in springtime and then the apple tree, the one with the many apples. A few years back Anneka, Aila and I gathered them up and I taught the girls how to make applesauce.
Then the other neighbours who planted all those beautiful pine trees around the front yard. Would you believe the new owners are in the process of cutting them all down?

I am afraid to move. I love my trees so much, (and our kids are witnesses of that), I even hesitate to cut down branches though a good trim is good for the tree. It pains me to see diseases killing some shrubs and I feek totally helpless after I have done all I could.

Last year when our house was painted, I even suggested to the painters to skip the part where the vines are attached. That is when Ted stepped in, listen "schat", we are paying $3000.00 never mind the birds nests and of course the painters agreed very readily.
(The vines have grown back quite a bit, but the birds have lost their trust so far anyway.)

If and when we sell our home, I want to be able to drive by later on and say: "Oh look at that tree, I planted it when ........ or look at the Lilac's in the back, still doing great (what GOOD people!)

My eye

I am very pleased with the outcome of the operation. I can now see the small print better and working on the laptop is easier. For instance, I had a real problem reading my friends blogs. I had to use 'ctrl + ' to enlarge the print, but not anymore. Actually everyday my sight is improving.

Ted faithfully applies the drops. After doing so yesterday, he said: Sweetheart, are you still happy with your head?" I looked at him blinking, from all the drops in my eye, and replied: "I think, this is one of the dumbest things you have ever said!" Then we both started laughing, him shaking his belly like the Pillsbury dough boy.

By the way, sometimes I will post more than one entry in one day. Make sure you back-up because I entered a couple of funny video's.
We all need a couple of laughs so now and then.
