My day

Remember me telling you that I cleaned up my yard?

Well, I did it again! The lawn was just covered with leaves after the strong winds we've been having. It actually did not take me that long.

We continued hanging the Christmas lights. It was very hard to find the right lengths for our windows. These LED lights come in either the 100, 70 or 35. I need 50 lights, which gives me 14'. Did you know that they are now available in warm white? I even noticed in the flyer that you can buy lights with a remote so you can actually change the colors. Of course they are pricey.

Why am I so early hanging the Christmas lights? Because that is not something I want to do when it is cold.

Today I was talking with Aila on the phone. She was talking about a car called "Snot Rod". I had to repeat what she said just to be sure I was hearing it correct. So now I have to go to the toy store and ask the clerk:"Do you by chance have a "Snot-Rod car?" "Hmmm, well let me see." For somebody having seen the movie it probably makes sense.
When Aila grows up she told me she wants to drive a car or a bus.
Now I hope that means when I am really, really old (right now I am just old Yvonne tells the girls) I might never have to walk, which would be a load of my mind!

Bummer!

Next weekend I was expecting my sister-in-law Willie (the wife of my recently deceased eldest brother Dirk) and her daughter, my dearest niece Nelly, to spend some time with us. That I was looking forward to that is an understatement.

But Nelly goes and breaks her wrist, not in one but two places!!! I can blame that on her big dog who would not move for her so Nelly had to step over her slipped and fell. Needless to say Nelly is in a lot of pain and uncomfortable with a huge cast. So this visit will have to be shelved for a while.

Coming from Holland where I left ALL my family, and having only them here in Canada they are very important to me. Then as you know the rest of my family who are dear to me are all moving away. First our son Paul who moved to North Carolina, than my favorite niece Monica goes to live in Toronto. To top it all off, Jason, Yvonne and the girls left for Ottawa.

But I have to say that I find great comfort in the fact that both Paul, Monica and Yvonne and Jason are exactly where the Lord wants them to be.

As for the canceled visit from Willy and Nelly, again the ways of the Lord we not always understand but in His wisdom I find comfort. Nevertheless, I had so looked forward to it.

Today Ted and I are going to hang the Christmas lights around the windows. Actually, he is holding the ladder and I do the climbing. Now why do those lights not last from the previous years?

Fall

There is nothing happening in my life that is "blog worthy". Ted and I came back from our trip to Ottawa with some very great memories. Then once home, life goes on. I worked the rest of the week and yesterday as well.

Today I plan to clean up the yard as the grass is high and like everybody else, lots of leaves around the place. I have not decided whether I should rake, mulch or bag. As I am writing (7:00am) the temperature is only 2c, brrrrrr! Yesterday was such a beautiful day and would have been perfect to work outside.

I have to start looking for somebody to do my outside work. Such as cleaning up in the spring and the fall. It is becoming too much for me. We also have to replace our Christmas lights around the windows. You would think they'd last more than one year, but I think they got damaged when we had these hail storms in the summer.

My niece Nelly suggested I buy the LED lights. Great suggestion since they are a lot cheaper in the long run. I used to hang the lights in our trees in front of the house but they have grown so tall that I am not able to reach the top. So last year October Ted and I hung them up around our windows instead. That meant me climbing on the ladder and Ted holding it, that was quite a sight since I am afraid of heights and he is not able to go on it either. Especially when we have to hammer nails in the frame. But once done it looked really nice.

See, exciting my life is? Well stay tune there is more to come!!!!!!!

Ottawa 3

Jason and Yvonne prepared a beautiful Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day.
Thank you so very much guy's.
You made this day one that is hard to forget!
Below, here we are in a horse and buggy.
Left to right, Yvonne, Anneka, Jennifer and Eliana.

Since it was in the very late afternoon it got rather chilly, as you can tell by my face. The coach had plenty of blankets though. Sammie was enjoying every minute of it. Thank you Paul for this memorable outing.Oma in her glory with Sammie and Anneka. Sammie had hurt her ankle and walking became painful
Some relaxation with everybody showing off their talents.

At the ByWard Market trying out some French pastry, which simply is a must.

Below best friends and cousins, they were inseparable, aren't they adorable?

Our Thanksgiving weekend

Tomorrow Ted and I will be leaving for Ottawa to spend Thanksgiving with Jason, Yvonne and the girls. We, of course are looking forward to this. Ted is somewhat apprehensive about it because there are times he does not feel that great when his Parkinson's flares up and he still has an unpredicted bowel system (without going into much detail!) Nevertheless, we are very much looking forward to see our granddaughters. For Ted it will be the first time to visit Ottawa.

What makes it even more special is that Paul, Jennifer and their girls are driving up from North Carolina. They'll be leaving Friday early evening and are expected to arrive 14 hrs later. Driving through the night is a great way to travel with kids. They will be staying in a hotel downtown Ottawa, and a fancy one I might add!!! Well, that is Paul for ye!

Now to top of the excitement of this weekend, Monica surprised us by coming as well with her friend Robert. This will be the first time we are meeting him, (the poor guy). They also will stay in a Hotel. Monica insists that we have a traditional Sunday lunch. So, I had to make my famous cinnamon buns and somehow take them along. The security might just want to keep them for their coffee break.
Ted suggested why not buy them over there, but THAT does not go over too well with the rest of the family. I only hope they turned out okay, because I never know before hand. Right now they are in the freezer. The other things we can buy over there, such as cheese, meat, Pillsbury buns, crackers, desert and a treat for the kids.

Ted is bringing his camera so that means we'll be posting some pictures.

I am sure you all have read the Bible and came upon a chapter that sounded so right you would put your own name in between the lines, hahaha! Well, the following really spoke to me this morning and I want to share it with you. I have felt kind of not like myself lately. These verses are a reminder to me that I am right where I am supposed to be in my life and that God is busy working in the background. So I'll wait (31) for what HE has in store for me!

Isaiah 40:26-31

26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you say, and complain, "My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in (wait on) the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
