One More Day!

http://www.foronemoreday.com/for_one_more_day_excerpt.htm

If you had "One More Day"? Who would you want to spent it with?
The author of this book, Mitch Albon, was on the Oprah show yesterday. I was deeply touched by the way some people responded to the question.

Even though he is not coming from a Christian background, but he believes in the power of love.
We know that nobody can love unless God is in him, because God is love. (Correct me if I am wrong!)

If you click on the link there is more information on this book and if you like there are more books he has written, which I have checked out. But I only wanted to refer to the "For One More Day" book.

The person I immediately thought about was my own mother who passed away when I was 16 years old. How much I wished I could talk with her. I would have so many questions. I would want to tell her how much I loved her and how sorry I am for being so difficult at times. Her life was not easy, raising nine children. Having none of the conveniences that we so much take for granted. Then, when things finally became a little better financially, and the small children grown up (the youngest, my little brother Willie being 10 years old), she was taken from us after a very painful battle with cancer. I saw her suffering in her bedroom days and weeks on end. I am talking here some 50 years ago.

How at the time after her passing I missed her so desperately and looking for someone to take her place to love me totally and unconditionally as only my mother could.
How thankful I am everyday for having Ted (Theo) come into my life, about four years after her passing. (That is when I also came to Canada). He indeed loves me like no one else could.

So ......if you had just "One More day", who would you want to spent it with?
Better yet, make sure there are NO regrets in your life! Think about it!

Chuckle!

A preacher had a sermon about,"Forgiving your enemies".
After having spoken for about 15 min. he asked his congregation, were they ready to forgive?
About half raised a hand. being disappointed he figured he'd better explain the matter a bit more and asked the question again. Now all, but one lady, raised a hand.

"Mrs. Jones," he asked: "Please come up front and tell us why you are not able to forgive your enemies?"(He figured the poor soul needed some prayer!)
The 95 year old slowly made her way up to the front then replied:
"I don't have any, 'cause I outlived them all!"

Check-up!

Tomorrow we will be going to Dr. Harris our oncologist. We will be finding out if the tests results that were made of Ted will be good. As you recall these tests are taken now every six months. (Mine will be next month).

These visits always remind us that, yes it is possible for a re-occurrence of the cancer. Those tests keep reminding us, yes we are not "out of the woods".

Are we thankful? You bet ye, for by next August Ted will have been cancer free for five years! That is having cancer in both the colon and his liver!

We would not be human if we would not feel some aprehension about our visit tomorrow. But we also know from experience that: "When the going gets tough, we.....!"

I read the following writing just a few minutes ago and how appropriate, please read it, you might need to read it for 'your own strength for your journey'. (I know that ususally you don't want to read something too long, but trust me, this is good!)

We will report back to you after our visit with the doctor tomorrow.

We are moving!

We, means Maple Leaf Drilling where I have worked for the last 11+ years.
We are moving into a brand new building on Springfield Road.
Rolina and I were packing up some of the things we need as soon as we get there.
Ron will take apart the computers, components and printers on Thursday. Our desks will be taken apart and moved on Friday. The files will also be taken over at that time, it seems like a big job but we take it one day at the time. We are close enough that when we need something we come back and get it. It might take a while before we have everything the way we want it.

So far we have been working out of the house therefore we can take our time. Most of the stuff will remain there anyways.

The Drilling equipment has been in the new place already for a few months.
Just in case you are curious about our business go to our web side: http://www.mapleleafdrilling.com

I am praying for rain!

You say:"WHAT"?

Friday I bought $60.00 worth of grass seeds and in the rain I spread it around on the lawn. The lawn was in such bad shape after the winter. I even planted a new scrub by the front door since one of the two identical ones had given up. It kind of looked lopsided there.

As I came in the house the perfect rain for a seeded lawn stopped and it has not rained since. So I am sorry all you people out there I need some rain. Looking at the forecast my prayer has already been answered. I am going out there to mow the lawn because it is now so high after the warm two days. I am not sure if that is a good idea for the seeds. But as I see it, the seeds need sun and with the tall grass they are not getting it.

Okay this is another dilemma in the life of Truus (Trudy).

Good Home Needed

A THIRD GRADERS EXPLANATION OF GOD

Written by Danny Dutton, age 8, from Chula Vista, California, for his third grade homework assignment to "Explain God."

One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way, He doesn't have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.

God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times besides bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because He hears everything there must be a terrible lot of noise in His ears, unless He has thought of a way to turn it off. God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going over your mom and dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.

Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church. Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind like His Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said OK.

His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore, He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary only more important. You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to hear you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the times.

You should always go to Church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God. Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong! And, besides, the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway.

If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark or when you can't swim very good and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids. But you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases.

And that's why I believe in God.

Our 47th Anniversary

(Click on each picture to enlarge)
May the 20th is our wedding anniversary. Ted and I had planned to go for dinner together but than decided to treat our children and the grand children for lunch at the Olive Garden. That is if they would take reservations, which they did because I told them it was a double celebration. Anneka has her 7th birthday coming up the 24th. So the restaurant staff sang this Italian Birthday song and the look on her face was priceless:-(. While Aila said: "That is beautiful!!"

Anneka received some "children's" make-up from Auntie Lynne. It seems she is growing up fast. Yvonne and I took her to the store to pick out some clothes for her birthday and she insisted she'd try them on. Yvonne told me that Anneka stood in front of the mirror deciding which item looked best on her! This has not happened before, yes our oldest granddaughter is growing up!

Blowing out her candles.

Anneka was sleeping over at our house. When she woke up in the morning she told me she had a dream about the restaurant. Everybody we knew had come and there was no more room for us to sit and we did not know what to do. How cute that is, even the little ones enjoy eating out so that she even dreamed about it. I assured her that there was a table reserved for us at the restaurant with our name on it. Pfffffff what a relieve.

Alyssa is enjoying herself with whatever a baby is concerned about, her fingers! Doesn't she look like a girl already?

When I came back from my little vacation I brought back some presents for the grandchildren. Here you see Aila with a hand puppet. One she would not put down.

For the boys I brought, well... boys toys and as you can see, Evan thinks his is pretty cool. This slingshot is able to shoot balls soaked in water, what fun!

Here is Hudson with his hand puppet. I wonder what he is thinking here. Hope you are able to help me out! Hahaha!

Where have I been? Well on a short vacation, which came up rather suddenly, those are the best ones. But now I can continue to keep you up to date with my life.

Last night we were looking after Anneka and Aila. Yvonne and Jason were having an open house to sell their house . We also found out that Hudson had a school spring concert so we went there as well and took the girls along with us.
Afterwards a visit to the Dairy Queen as a reward for Hudson for doing so well at the concert. (Hudson is standing on the far left on the picture.)

Theo took some pictures, which I will post. The kids just love to play with each other. Aila said on our way to the school: "I am so exited to see Evan, he is my brother!" Anneka quickly corrected her that he is her cousin!
Here they are at the Diary Queen!
