Exciting news!!

European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as re plasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi TU understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.

That is why it is on my blog!!!!

Uhmmmm!

We had the girls over for the night because Yvonne and Jason are doing ministry this morning. Anneka slept with me. When we woke up this morning she said: "My eye hurt." I asked her: "How did that happen?" She, at that moment did not know. Than after a minute or so she remembered. "Oma" she said, "you know what? The other day Daddy had a pimple on his cheek and I was staring at it! That is why my eye hurt." "Uhmmm", I replied. What else could I say?

Kids say the darnest things!

Cancer Update

This afternoon we were at the cancer clinic for Ted's (Theo's) checkup. His blood work was done a few weeks ago. We found out that the CEA tumor maker was up. In the fall it was 2.9 and the last test test done showed it was up to 7.5.
Dr Harris, our oncologist was not happy with that and ordered another test this afternoon. She told us we could wait for the result and that result was down to 5.5. That means she said I will order a CT Scan as soon as possible.

She told us the scan will detect anything abnormal, so we will have to wait. We are both cancer patients and every time she, Dr. Harris tells us,(when she sticks her head around the corner) everything is fine, we thank God and say isn't that something? We rejoice and we go our merry way.

But God is still there and we continue to praise Him. We will deal with what ever comes. We are not afraid to die but it is nature to want to live as long as possible. Try to swat a mosquito in the summer how difficult is that! Or step on an ant hill they rush all over the place! Hahaha. We humans are not any different. But.......we say with David in Psalm 31:14,15
But as for me, I trust in Thee O Lord
I say, "Thou art my God."
My times are in Thy hand,

You know what is also wonderful, that we have friends who tell us we will pray for Ted (Theo). Now that is so much appreciated, thank you for that.

We will keep you updated after all that is what this blog is all about.

Love Ted and Trudy

Some more Holland

Well does this look good or what. This we found in a bakery called "Tummers" in my hometown Heemstede. This bakery was there already when I was growing up.. We found out that the owners used to live in BC. But after a trip to the "old" country they decided to buy this bakery. Well each piece of pastry looked like a master piece. In the back of the shop they had a restaurant where Yvonne and I sat down for coffee and yes pastry. Yvonne was not that crazy about the coffee, it was a rather strong cup of expresso. Yvonne's picture speaks for it self!!

Our next stop after some more shopping was to sit down for some croquettes in this "gezellig" cozy cafeteria. We ordered "patat" fries and when the girl brought the food to our table the fries were all done up beautifully on a platter. I commented to her what a nice job she had done as we did not expect that. "Well" she said: "I did that extra nice for you." It seems that we were treated so nice in Holland. I was trying very hard to talk good Dutch, half the time I would talk a mixture. Yvonne had to remind me, Mom Dutch. Would I have been there alone I would have blended in a lot faster. But because I had to speak English to Yvonne and Dutch to the family, my mind was not able to keep up, hahaha.

Snow!

Well this is our winter wonderland, but not for long!!!!
Soon it will look like the last picture!

Just for today!

I read this piece this morning in: "My Daily Bread" devotional
By : Dave Egner

My dog Whitaker and I like to take early-morning walks through the woods. He runs ahead while I amble along, meditating or praying. I know where we're going; he's not sure. I stay on the trail and he trots ahead, sniffing, investigating, and taking occasional forays into the forest to chase real or imagined chipmunks.

Though Whit is ahead, I'm leading. Every so often he checks to see where I am. If I've turned back toward home or gone on to another trail, I hear his pounding feet and panting breath as he races to catch up with me. If I hide behind some brush, he runs to the last place he saw me and tracks me down. Then we walk the trail together again.

It's like that with God's leading. He knows the way because He has prepared the way. But sometimes we may not see Him, so we do our best to go where He wants by following the guidance of His Word. Other times it may seem as if He is hidden from us. His pace may not be as fast as we would like, or we wish He would slow down.

Just as Whitaker keeps looking back at me, we need to look to God and His Word at every important juncture we come to. We must rely on the direction of His Spirit.

I love this allegory but it also took me back to Holland. When Yvonne went to stay with her friends for two days (the only time we were apart) I visited with my niece JoAnn and her husband Bert. They have a dog named "Ios", we took him for a walk in the woods. They live in such a beautiful part of Holland where a walk as such is possible. For those of you who have a dog, (I don't) will know how they like to run around. Ios was just so exited to be out of the house and to be let loose out there in the woods. It made this allegory even more real to me.

Lead me, if Thou wilt, dear Master!
