Having a conversation with a "friend" yesterday. Who asked me how I am feeling, rather nice, I'd say!
I told her, I feel great, all though my hands and feet and mouth are very sensitive, but you get kind of used to it.
Thursday I'll be seeing the oncologist, and to have my bloodwork done in the lab. So she said, and the doctor will give you heck, as you have not gained anything you are way to thin.
But don't worry, "sticks" are in!
Hmmmm? I did not have a comeback, if I did, I would not have said what was on my mind!
People can be so crude, and I would not want to stoop to their level, but it makes you think.
Is it not enough that I am positive, happy, thankful and full of life?
I am glad my husband tells me every day how beautiful I look!

Knock,Knock
We were doing knock, knock yokes this morning, as we are babysitting the girls for the weekend.
I said to Anneka, you want to hear some more knock knock yokes?
So, I started reading some from a website I had found.
Finally she said: "Oma, I have one, knock, knock".
Me: "Who is there?"
Anneka: "Don't".
Me: "Don't who".
Anneka: "Don't read any more yokes, I want to watch TV!"
Pretty smart, I think!

1 John 4:7-12 (The Message)
The Message (MSG)
God Is Love
7 My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. 8 The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love--so you can't know him if you don't love.
9 This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. 10 This is the kind of love we are talking about--not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God.
11 My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. 12 No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us--perfect love!
The following in Dutch:
1 Johannes 4:7-12 (Het Boek)

Stress and attitude!
The single most important point you can make about stress is that in most cases it's not what's out there that is the problem, it's how you react to it. And how you react is determined by how you perceive a particular stress.
Watch people on a roller coaster ride. Some sit in the back, eyes shut, jaw clenched. They can't wait for the ordeal to end and to get back on solid ground.
Up front are the wide-eyed thrill seekers who relish every steep plunge and can't wait to get on the very next ride. And in between are those who are seemingly bored.
They're all having exactly the same experience, the roller coaster ride, but they're reacting to it very differently: bad stress, good stress and no stress.
Just something to think about!

Summer is here!
I have not written much the last couple of days, not much to write about.
Yesterday of course was Father's day. The family came over, we ordered Chinees food, and that was good! As a matter fo fact, we had left overs, which we split up.
The last few days have been wonderful weather wise, nice to be outdoors. Thursday Yvonne came over with the girls while she mowed my lawn, yes she did, I filled up the kiddie pool.
It was lots of fun.
As I look at the lawn, it is time to mowe it again, after all the rain and now the hot weather.
It will have to wait as tomorrow and Wednesday I'll be at the office. The coming weekend the girls will be here.
I am feeling absolutely great, lots of energy, so that is wonderful.

Cutie

This is my niece Nelly's baby Quigley, she looks so cute, yes, and that is Nelly all squeezed under her. Makes you wonder, who's the boss. I wonder if Quigley holds the remote control as well!
Cute dog Nelly, I can understand why you would love her.

Heaven!!!!!!!
Getting back to what I said about asphalt.
I have been reading and listning to Revelations 21.
Because I don't want to miss anything, I read it a few times as follows:
*The new International Version (read and audio)
*New American Standard Bible
*The Message
*Het Boek (Dutch)
Oh Lord, do I want to go there!
Why do we want to hang on to this life so much!
Why do we say, "Praise The Lord", when the reports of the doctor are perfect?
Why do we duck, if someone tries to hit us?
Why is a fly so hard to catch?
Why when you step on an ant hill they all of a sudden run for their lives?

???????
Now, I always get up very early to have my time with the Lord.
About two hours later Ted walked into the room.
So I said: "Good morning, how are you?"
He replied: " I am sleepy."
Me :"So, why did you not stay in bed?"
Ted: "Because I was awake!"
Huh?????????

Taking asphalt into Heaven?
The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. —Revelation 21:21
The story is told about a miner who struck gold and carried his bag of nuggets with him everywhere. One day he died and went to heaven, still carrying his precious nuggets. When he arrived, an angel asked him why he was carrying asphalt. "This isn't asphalt," he explained, "it's gold." To which the angel replied, "On earth it's called gold, but here in heaven we use it to pave our streets."
Granted, this is just a funny story. But it prompts us to think about what we consider valuable and what is truly valuable to God.
What impresses me most about Revelation 21 is the description of heaven's street: It is "pure gold, like transparent glass". We value gold as being the most precious of metals, and we use it to make our most prized possessions. In heaven it will be what we walk on. What a reversal!
The things we prize here on earth will not be so highly valued in heaven. The unnecessary things we buy and collect, stock portfolios and bank accounts, admiration and fame. When the time comes to bid earth goodbye, what value will they have?

Dora where were you!
Last Monday I had to go to the dentist to have a filling done and a tooth pulled. That meant I had to make a trip to the denturist to have my partial changed, no big deal, except for the cost!
No big deal, I said, no big deal? I sound like Bob the Tomato from Vegetale. Well, read on:
Wednesday after work Ted wanted to go eat at Perkins, all I could think of, was that big taco salad they have on the menu. Well, I should have taken "Dora The Explorer" with me to go over the menu. "Can you tell which item Trudy can eat? Salad in a crust? Nooooooo!". Well Trudy ordered it, forgetting the fact that my partial is at the denturist, and a wound in my mouth. As the order came, I looked at it and thought, oh my goodness!
It took me 15 min to eat 5%, while Ted was gobbling down his dinner. The only thing I could do was ask them to wrap it up for me to take it home. Coming home I decided I'd better continue with my meal. I opened up the box, well, it looked like they sat on it! Then again, how else could they wrap up one of those huge shells filled to the top with everything from olives to beans, cheese, carrots and some other crunchy stuff that I could not eat.
Another big mistake for which I could have used Dora, you never eat smelly food when you have an appointment with the denturist and the doctor. I did eat a lot of mints and long lasting gum and hoped for the best!
So, Dora where were you when I needed you !
You have to have kids or grandchildren in order to appreciate "Bob the Tomato" and "Dora the Explorer", as that is what you have to watch with them on the TV.

Wedding

It was a beautiful day, except for the rain, actually drizzle, which lasted only a few minutes. I was looking after Aila, as Yvonne and Jason were going to do a special number. I kept her busy with smarties, crackers, raisins and a sucker. Once and a while she make a loud noise, for instance, as she discovered her Auntie Lynne and Uncle Ron, cousins Hudson and Evan sitting in the back. In all the excitement she threw up , yes on my white skirt which I had to wash before the reception.

The bride Jacinda looked radiant, how else, she is family! The dresses of the bridemaids were beautiful.
Monica did a fantastic job organizing the whole thing, she is amazing! She is going to arrange our 50th wedding anniversary in five years, (she does not know this yet, but she will after she reads this!) Love you Monica!

Chemo cycle six
Ted and I went to the Oncology department yesterday afternoon. All the test came out perfect. That is the CTScans and blood work for the both of us! So, we are still cancer free!
So, nothing has changed, "I am too thin and Ted is too fat!"

We were both in her office with our gowns on, yes, open in the back, they have to tell us that every time! First it was Ted's turn to sit on the examining table and then mine. As I sat there making myself comfortable, Ted said to Dr. Harris, "doesn't she look cute. I would like to examine her myself!" Oh brother!
So, of course, I get the "you are too thin speal" from her, to which I said, yes but I can wear all those hip clothes, I am in no hurry to change that! So she said: "No wonder he is so anxious to examine you!"
Well, this morning I started on the pills again. I feel great, well my hands and feet are always sore, but it is manageable. I want to testify to the fact that just because a person has cancer, it is not the end. I am just as happy with my life as before the discovering of it. Actually, I am happier, because I am so thankful to be alive. I mentioned it yet to the lab technition yesterday and he told me what a great attitude I have and stuck up both thumbs. Thank you Lord!

Wedding
So, today is the big day for Jacinda and Ahmed.
Looking outside, it might be better than forecasted.
The ceremony is supposed to be outside, would be a real bummer if it started to rain. I have asked the Lord to keep the clouds back.
(But tomorrow it may rain so my tulips stay alive a bit longer, ha, ha.)
I will post some pictures from the wedding tomorrow.

Update Gordie
I have been hesitating writing about an update. Frankly, I don't quite understand it.
Apparently, Gordie was operated on Friday as planned. But the specialist could not go deeper to find the prostrate. He was bleeding profusely. The specialist was totally frustrated. So they will do radiation. The specialist had told the family: "This is the third such case in my experience".
Could we be talking about a "God" thing? What are your thoughts about this.
I visited him Monday and he seemed to be in good spirits
I would like Nelly my niece to shed some light in to this. The surrounding lymphnodes were not affected. That is a good sign, which was not the case with me. That is why I am taking chemo, which by the way is going very well. Tomorrow is my last day of this fifth cycle.
I am feeling great, my hands and feet tend to be a bit sensitive. But today we, Monica and I spend the greater part of the morning in Polo-Park and at lunch met up with Yvonne and the girls. We ended buying a dress for the girls for the wedding.
I came home at 3:30. I'd say I did pretty good! Monica was picked up by Jacinda for the final dress fitting (re: wedding). Got to read my previous posts to keep up!!!

Funny!
My niece Monica is over from Toronto in anticipation and hard work for the wedding of her and my cousin Jacinda who is going to get married this Saturday.
This morning we were chatting over breakfast coffee.

Monica is a marathon runner and goes to the gym for work-outs. She is also single, smart, pretty and has a good head on her shoulders. She was telling us about her trainer she had hired. Whom she informed before they started:
"I need a trainer who tells me what to do, who lets me complain, but who does not listen, and above all, who works me hard".
To which Ted replied: "Sound to me like you need a husband!"
